Pet Friendly Festivals in Austin

Well, it’s October and though it’s far from chilly outside, at least some of the sizzle has gone out of Summer. It’s the perfect time for dog owners to start thinking about outdoor activities!

A great way to venture back outdoors with your dog is to check out all of the many Fall festivals in Austin. Bed and Biscuit Austin is excited to highlight these fantastic festivals that are dog-friendly as well as others that don’t allow dogs.


Austin Dogtoberfest 2013

Austin Dogtoberfest takes place on October 19, 2013 at the Domain, (11410 Century Oaks Terrace Austin, TX) Dogtoberfest activities will include a “dogtober trot”, canine costume contest, a “wiener dog” race, live music and pet portraits.

DogtoberfestThey will also have a food court, silent auction, raffle drawing and demonstrations by the Austin Police K9 department. Dogtoberfest Austin is a charitable organization created for the purpose of raising awareness about dog rescue. Check out their website at

11th Annual Barktoberfest & 3K Pledge Dog Walk For Homeless Pets

A Round Rock event taking place on October 26, 2013 at the Old Settler’s Park Lakeview Pavilion (3300 Palm Valley Blvd. Round Rock, TX).  Join the Central Texas SPCA for their 25th year celebration of finding homes for pets.

barktoberThere will be a 3K dog walk, live music  and kids’ activities. In addition to their usual costume contest and vendor booths, they will a pet adoption area and low-cost micro-chipping clinic. For more details, go to

The Spiderhouse Café Yappy Hour

If you’re into poetry, music and more, the Spider House Café (2908 Fruth Street, Austin, TX) promises that every day, from 4pm-6pm,  Austin pet lovers and their canine friends can enjoy “yappy hour” on the Spider House patio. They are also offering two free movies at I Love Video next door if you bring your Spider House receipt.

Dogtoberfest 2013 San Antonio

For the truly dedicated festival goer, if you’re willing to travel a bit, San Antonio is having it’s own “Toberfest”.

On October 12, from 11am to 3pm, the Woof Gang Bakery (10003 NW Military Hwy San Antonio, TX) will be hosting this event featuring pet adoptions, food, raffles and contests, pet portraits, low-cost vaccinations, live music and more. The proceeds will benefit Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare (AAPAW).



Austin City Limits – No dogs allowed (except Service Dogs)

The Austin Chocolate Festival – October 15, 10am at the Norris Convention Center. No dogs allowed (except Service Dogs)

The Austin Celtic Festival Dog Parade – If you have a dog that is one of the “Celtic dog breeds”, you can attend the Austin Cetlic Festival on November 2-3, 2013 at Fiesta Gardens (2101 Jesse E. Segovia St, Austin, TX 78702), but ONLY if you register your dog as a performer. Otherwise, dogs are not allowed in the park.

The “Celtic dog breeds” include: Irish Setters, Welsh Corgis, West Highland Terriers, Skye Terriers, Cairn Terriers, Scottish Deerhounds, Irish Wolfhounds, Border Collies, Collies, Scotties, Gordon Setters, Kerry Beagle, Irish Water Spaniel Golden Retriever, Bearded Collie, Shetland Sheepdog.
